Many persons contributed to making the Roebling Oral History Project
a success and to the publication of the companion booklet and
online archive. Lisa Goldman, Grants Manager, of the New Jersey
Council for the Humanities helped us shape the proposal and provided
guidance throughout the project.
Nancy Beer, Trenton Roebling Community Development Corporation, developed the project to help interpret the Roebling site's history for visitors and residents. Judy Winkler provided the project administration, including organizing the focus group and the interviews, and the desktop publication of the booklet. Dr. Dennis Starr, Rider University history professor, provided professional leadership and conducted the interviews, along with Clifford Zink. Nancy Beer, Dennis Starr, Judy Winkler, and Clifford Zink edited the interviews for the video and booklet.
Junior League of Greater Princeton members transcribed the tapes:
Shelley Hacker, Debbie Inman, Nancianne Kemble, Christy Kettell,
Liza Morehouse, Donna Palm, Debbie Prebys, Ann Rizzo, and Patty
Sapanoro. Anne Bucher assisted in organizing the volunteers.
Mark Goiten of Apex Lumber Company and Ron Berman of DKM Properties
provided access to the Roebling Rope Shop and the Roebling Machine
Shop for the interviews.
Members of the Roebling Oral History Advisory Board, Violet Cox,
Sally Lane, Charlie Brenner, and Maurice Perilli, provided support
and guidance to the interviewee selection process. Numerous community
members provided historic information on the factory and suggestions
of workers to interview, and several participated in a focus group
to help identify oral history themes.
The interviewees generously and enthusiastically provided their
time and memorabilia, including many of the historic photographs
in the booklet and online. Other photographs have been provided
by the Hagley Museum and Library, Rensselear Polytechnic Institute,
and Pete Rossi, the former Roebling Company Athletic Director.
Dick Blofson of Telequest provided the video equipment. Andy and
Ann Fredericks recorded the interviews, and Andy edited the tape.
Dave Nugent and the Trenton Printing Company printed the booklet.
Walt Curtis and Curtis Offset Press produced the halftones.
