DIRECTIONS FOR MIXING

Put all of the people into the independent country, making sure that you have included people of all races, colors and creeds. Immediately add all religions and stir self-government throughout the mixture. Sprinkle liberally with freedom of speech, freedom of worship, and season with a free press. Cover entire mixture completely with a generous quantity of freedom from fear, making sure that all parts of the mixture are included. Place mixture so that it is exposed for sometime to the sunshine of liberty. Then pour entire batch into a large melting pot and cook until done. Serves everyone.

Although, unfortunately, up to the present time this democracy dish has ben served pretty much exclusively in the United States, Americans have no monopoly on the recipe. In fact, Americans are most anxious to share the recipe with all peoples, everywhe re. If the ingredients are carefully selected and the mixing instructions followed without exception, there seems to be no good reason why it cannot be a recipe for the world.
