Elimination of juvenile delinquency in the community is due in large part to such programs as the Youth Canteen Dance which was sponsored every Monday night by Troop 5, Boy Scouts of America up until several months ago. Open to all young people of Florence Township the affair never failed to attract less than 100 boys and girls. There was no admission charge, music was provided and refreshments--hot dogs, hamburgers, tomato pies and soda were sold.

A similar teen age program sponsored by the churches of Florence, New Jersey to which all Roebling girls and boys are invited, now takes the place of the highly respected youth canteen.
